Arnett Critical Thinking Level Examination (CTLE) is the FIRST test of its kind. You asked for it, You got it! A test that takes into account all the nursing knowledge gained by a nursing student after one academic year in the nursing program. This test combines basic critical thinking skills and marries them to the nursing situations your students encounter. How well your students answer will show how well their critical thinking skills have developed based on nursing material since their entrance into the nursing program. This is the intermediate step on the way to being an effective critical thinking nurse.

About the Test(s)

This test is a FREE RESPONSE test using the Partial Credit Model. All test questions have an ability level assigned from the Item Response Theory model by RASCH. This test does not use the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format. The student must enter the desired response/action to the question with no prompts. Questions can have multiple correct answers. This maximizes the students ability to think critically without being prompted or guided to a response. This eliminates any guessing and you get a true picture of the students knowledge level and retention of information as well as their thought process. The questions in CTLE are keyed to the following areas: Critical Thinking Competencies, Nursing Process, Partial Credit Summary, Blooms Taxonomy, Content Areas, Categories of Client Needs & Systems. The student is evaluated in these areas.

The Reports

In addition to the student reports the school will also receive two additional reports: School Summary Report and Executive Summary Report. The school summary report includes an analysis of the following areas: Critical Thinking Competencies, Partial Credit Summary & Blooms Taxonomy. The executive summary report will include: Student name, ability level, partial credit, critical thinking, Bloom's Taxonomy.
